Pinnacle Polymers, LLC, a privately-owned polypropylene manufacturing facility, has an opening for a Senior Financial Accountant in Garyville, Louisiana.

 

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the site’s commercial credit analysis, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, capital accounting process, cash forecasting and analysis, and other accounting functions for the business. Responsible for the analysis and preparation of accounting documents and validations and analysis activities which may include the plant’s financial planning, capital, operating expense, budgeting, forecasting and statistical reporting.      

 

Main responsibilities and key tasks

 

  • Manage accounts payable - Provide Leadership to a team of two Accounts Payable Associates to ensure that ACH, Wire, and Check vendor information is correct and that the processing of vendor payments is done timely.  Manage AP data reporting for process improvements for all AP, VIM, and GR transactions. Lead in the sales tax assessment and compliance.
  • Manage accounts receivable – work with sales account managers, customer service, and customers to ensure timely invoice payment and lines of credit are sufficient.
  • Manage customer credit by working with the commercial sales team, the customer’s finance counterparts, and Pinnacle’s credit insurance company to establish, retain, and monitor credit within regulatory compliance. Also work with management, credit department, and credit insurer to complete policy renewal and reporting.
  • Cash Accounting including cash application, monitoring operations and balances in multiple accounts, reconciling bank statements, and other bank process analysis.
  • Manages the commercial rebate reconciliation with supply chain to accurately maintain the proper accruals and payouts per the commercial contracts.
  • Manage Capital process by working with project owners and management on the annual budget, monthly forecasts, and coordination of the Capex initiation, review, and approval in the BIG system.  Responsible for SAP capital process and all financial transactions monthly to ensure proper capitalizations, retirements, and depreciations.
  • Quarterly provide CPA’s financial data to calculate income tax with depreciation estimates.
  • Prepares the accounting journal entries as required for monthly financial close. 
  • Ownership of the reconciliation and closing of monthly general ledger accounts and accruals. Analyze and ensure accurate recording of all plant accounting transactions and effectiveness of internal financial controls and report to Finance Controller if there are issues.  
  • Assists with preparing schedules for upload to the system for Annual Budgeting, Quarterly Financial forecasts, and Monthly Management Reporting into the BIG Finance tool, Planning Analytics.  Responsible for most uploading into Planning Analytics for analysis by site Finance Controller and BIG.
  • Lead various Accounting projects and provide support for other business improvement projects. 
  • Coordinates and assists in internal and external audits of financial statements and financial controls. 
  • Prepare and provide financial data for income tax filing and payments.
  • Coordinate ad valorem tax filing and payment with outside consultants. 
  • Complete various governmental reporting. 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience 
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environment preferred
  • CPA/CMA designation preferred 
  • Ability to work in the U.S. and successful completion of a pre-employment background check and screening
  • Advanced knowledge of General Ledger Accounting
  • Working knowledge of all GAAP standards and principals 
  • Must have strong working knowledge of personal computers utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Excel), experience with SAP 
  • Must be willing and able to safely, effectively and efficiently carry out written and verbal job-related instructions, and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks while making decisions 
  • Outstanding communication skills with both verbal and written
  • The ability to work in a group environment as well as independently
