Group Controlling and Accounting Director

As our Group Controlling & Accounting Director, you will be responsible for preparing and monitoring annual budgets, multi-year investment plans and business plans
 

Objective of the position

  • Managing and further improving the accounting and reporting system and practices  throughout the group, including overseeing and monitoring an effective control environment to ensure that financial information is timely, accurate, complete and compliant with relevant accounting and reporting principles;
  • Driving the strategic planning process and be instrumental in supporting and challenging the global finance organization in developing insights and foresights by a strong understanding of our business and external environment;                                                                                               
  • You report directly to the CFO and act as his sparring partner and right hand.
     

Main Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the legal consolidation and management information consolidation in order to provide a timely and reliable consolidated financial statement to external and internal stakeholders in line with applicable legislation and group standards;
  • Together with your team collecting, consolidating and interpreting various financial reports in order to provide group management with a quick and reliable insight into the profitability of the activities and the financial position of the group (e.g. monthly management reporting, weekly sales report, yearly annual report, etc.); 
  • Coordinating and controlling the group strategic planning process (X+5, budget, forecast,…); 
  • Preparing and providing a basis for the financial advice to the CFO and the Management Committee;
  • Having an active role in developing and defining future group KPI’s;
  • Organization of the external audit process in order to achieve an efficient & effective audit process;
  • Responsible for the controlling activities of the group shared services (IT, R&D, Accounting, etc.);
  • Responsible for the team of finance business process analysts (SAP FI/CO) which enables a greater optimization & uniformity of our finance processes;
  • Keeping yourself continuously informed of the evolutions in the field of finance and accounting, keeping your knowledge up-to-date in function of changes in regulations and technological innovations in software; 
  • Working as ONE team with other group finance departments (Tax, Treasury, Audit, SSC, …) and BU Finance & Controlling dept.
  • You are responsible for 7 direct reports: Group Controlling & Consolidation team, Finance Business Process Analysts and Accounting of the corporate entities.
     

Competency Profile

  • You have obtained a Master’s degree in Economics/Finance and have 8-12 years of relevant experience in finance and consolidation;
  • Experience in a big four Audit firm with good BEGAAP and/or IFRS knowledge is a strong plus;
  • Excellent financial acumen and analytical thinking ;
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbally and in writing) with the ability to challenge and collaborate;
  • Result oriented with strong prioritization skills, finding the balance between attention for details and the bigger picture while respecting deadlines;
  • Pro-active self-starter, you can work independently, critical mindset, take initiative to bring new ideas and improvements and have a hands-on attitude;
  • You put business success ahead of personal success;
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a must in combination with the ability to work in a global team environment with a lot of cultural and international diversity;
  • Fluent in English and ideally in Dutch and/or French as well;
  • You have a good working knowledge of Excel. Knowledge of SAP, IBM Planning analytics, Cognos Controller is a plus;
  • You are willing to travel on an ad hoc basis (< 10%).
  • Position will be based in Belgium.
