A New Challenge?
As our Director of Corporate Social Responsibility you will be responsible for B.I.G.’s Sustainability Program, by setting the direction and build our leadership position in sustainability. 


The Director of Corporate Social Responsibility will coordinate all efforts making B.I.G. fully sustainable by 2030 and a leader in the field of corporate social responsibility. The position holder identifies external and internal sustainability trends, recognizes risks and opportunities, and uses the insights gained to formulate a competitive business strategy and integrate sustainability practices into the current business model. The position holder acts as B.I.G.'s spokesperson for all sustainability-related matters.
The Sustainability Director reports to our CEO and is based in Waregem.

Main responsibilities & key tasks


  • Make B.I.G. part of the solution in the sustainability debate.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop an overall corporate stakeholder strategy.
  • Develop and implement a Corporate Social Responsibility vision and strategic plan for the company. Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that the vision and plans reflect the material issues of all departments.
  • Review and analyze company policies and processes to identify areas and processes where improvements can be made consistent with the organization's commitment to sustainability.
  • Embed corporate social responsibility in all activities and include sustainable development in strategic discussions and initiatives.
  • Prepare activities for continuous improvement in sustainable development performance in exploration, development, operation and expansion projects.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility issues.
  • Build trusting internal relationships as a central point of contact and expert in sustainability decision making for all functions.
  • Work with industry and regulatory groups to effectively influence policy development that has a significant impact on B.I.G.
  • Represent the company and continue to actively participate in professional organizations focused on sustainability leadership.
  • Report on the company's Corporate Social Responsibility goals, metrics and other key performance indicators. 


  • Work across functions to ensure company-wide coordination and identification and management of environmental and social risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure that B.I.G.'s programs and policies create and enhance a positive atmosphere in the community and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all B.I.G. sites are aware of B.I.G.'s commitments and obligations to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that all significant risks are identified and mitigated at the site level and understood and overseen at the senior management level.
  • Report on environmental and social performance through various reports, including the annual Corporate Social Responsibility report.
  • Implement and maintain corporate standards and reporting that reflect industry best practices.

Competencies and Skills.

  • More than 10 years of relevant management experience in 'direct' or 'indirect' sustainability roles, preferably in the materials sectors
  • Master degree or equivalent through experience.
  • Experience in negotiating and working with governments/regulators and balancing stakeholders.
  • Strong project management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Open to travel.
